Theory of plate techonics

I learned that places connect and the different places go on the map. Theory of continental drift by Wegner, in 1920 showed that the continents slide over the ocean floor. Geophysicists didn't agree, they thought that the ocean floor didn't have enough power to hold the continents and theory of seafloor spreading by Hess, in 1960, the movement of the continents showed sea floor spreading. Molten magma from under the earth's crust would fill in between the plates, in the Great Global Rift. When it cooled, it would spread apart and push the plates on either side of it, so the Atlantic Ocean would become, wider, but coastlines of the landmass wouldn't change dramatically. The theory of plate tectonics holds that the crust of the earth broken into 6 pieces and many other smaller ones, that any plate may consist, in part, of ocean floor, and in part, of a continent or islands. They collaborate with each and share their ideas. They come to an agreement and diside what to do from there. They may disagree ,but have to come to one solution as a group. They gather information and the scientist come together with all their ideas.

Memordandum- Sam Harris

A clam lives in depth range of 40-140 meters and 130-4593 feet. They are only in the south Pacific about seven days sailing from the closest port. the breeding cycle is at night and lasts 4-6 hours.

To study a clam underwater I would need an oxygen tank to breathe. goggles would be necessary to see the clams underwater. On the boat above water. I would collect my data and information about the clams. I would have a life boat for emergency's. I would also have a rope to the off at the dock or somewhere. I would would have it to save someone too if they need help. I would need other people to help study the clams and for supervision. lastly, I would need seven days worth of food and drinks to survive out there on the boat. With all my supplies I am ready to start my journey studying clams and learning new things about them. I have all the equipment and food supplies I need to make it out alive.

Sam Harris- molases spill

Your thoughts on the effects of the molasses spill. How should people respond to this? Could this have been prepared for? What should be done next?

This molasses spill is insane!!! I feel so bad for the animals! I think people should respond to this in a sad way. people should want to help and try to make things better under water. after seeing that video I defiantly would want to help. The people that caused this should be held responsible and do a big part to make things better.
Yes this defiantly could have been prepared for! The scientist should have known that something like this would happen if they were careful. They should try to fix the situation they put themselves in the best that they can. Help the animals first and make sure they are taken care of. The spill is a tragic thing that happened! Hopefully it will never happen again!

Why Study Science

We study science to learn more about the world around us and the environment. There are so many different types of sciences. Studying science can be very interesting. You can learn more and find out something new.Being a scientist they have to do experiments and tests to find out important information. I would like to learn more about the ocean and what goes on under water that I don't see everyday. Labs can be fun ,but it takes time and a lot of researching. you get to learn about different animals and scientists who discovered interesting things. Science can be a lot of fun and theirs a lot to learn. Science is everywhere!
